Three types of fixed partial denture

Fixed denture is generally divided into the following categories:

1. Single-ended fixed bridge

Fixed bridge, also known as single-ended cantilever fixed bridge. Such fixed bridge only one end of a fixed body bridge with fixed body fixed connection between the body, the other end of the completely free without any support, only neighbor relationship with adjacent teeth. Fixed bridge force to bridge arm leverage abutment to the center of rotation, abutment reverse tilt, often cause the abutment periodontal tissue damage or retention of loosening, shedding, therefore clinical applies only to powerful, bridge abutments supportive jaw force cases.

2. Fixed bridge

Fixed bridge, also known as fully fixed bridge the both ends retainers, retainer and the bridge between the fixed connection the retainers cement abutments, abutments, retainers and dental instruments bridge, is connected into a fixed overall, and the formation of a new unit of chewing. Force borne by such fixed bridge can be uniformly dispersed into the abutments at both ends, is an ideal way of a structure in the fixed bridge.

3. Semi-fixed bridge

Semi-fixed bridge, also known as stress interrupt fixed bridge. Fixed at both ends of the bridge have retainers, pontic one end of the retainer between fixed connection between the other end of the retention body was movable connection, that the activities of the joint connection. Both ends of the semi-fixed bridge abutment force is not uniform, due to the movable connection terminal causes the bridge when the force conduction is in abutment on the stress changes, and the buffer, i.e. "stress blocked" action, so when the semi-fixed bridge body the middle by a vertical jaw force, does not automatically the Siamese end abutments under the jaw force than movable connection end of the bear's jaw force.
